The following is a list of Independence Christian School Faculty and their qualifications:
Monica Roberts - Kindergarten
Mrs. Roberts holds both a B.S. Degree and Multiple Subjects Credential from California State University, Fullerton. During her five years teaching experience, she has become CLAD Certified and has also taught Gifted students. She is an avid reader and her love for good literature is reflected in the reading and writing projects she conducts in her classroom.
Carol Lancaster - First Grade
Ms. Lancaster received her B.S. Degree from Cedarville College, Ohio. She also has a Multiple Subjects Credential and a Masters in Elementary and Bilingual Education from California State University, Fullerton. With thirty years of teaching experience, Ms. Lancaster knows how to build the strong academic foundation needed for success in school. She was listed in "Who's Who in America's Teachers" from 2004 - 2006.
Mary Morey - Second Grade
Mrs. Morey graduated from Point Loma University in San Diego, California where she received a B.A. Degree in Liberal Studies and a Multiple Subjects Credential. Because she believes that physical fitness and learning to live a healthy lifestyle are an important part of early education, she initiated our Second Grade Fit Club. She has taught for many years at I.C.S.
Darlene Fowler - Third Grade
Mrs. Fowler has been a member of our staff for many years. She received her B.S. Degree in Christian Education from Arlington Baptist College in Arlington, Texas. She has an ACSI Teaching Credential. Known for her experience as a third grade teacher, Mrs. Fowler has developed an outstanding rapport with her students while presenting unique and exciting projects, presentations and field trips to keep her students motivated and academically challenged.
Paula Gregg - Fourth Grade
Mrs. Gregg received her B.S. Degree from Chapman University in Orange, California and a Masters Degree in Reading from California State University in Fullerton. She has an ACSI teaching credential. Her innovative learning strategies and "hands on" approach help students to meet the challenges of transitioning from a primary to upper elementary class. She has been a member of the I.C.S staff for many years.
Karen Monarres- Fifth Grade
Mrs. Monarres earned a B.S. degree in Child and Adolesent Studies at California State University in Fullerton. She has taught Middle School courses at ICS for a few years. She taught sixth grade at Creekside Christian School during the 2007/2008 year. Prior to that she worked with severly disabled for five years in the Garden Grove Unified School District. She is the mother of two children that attend ICS.
Suman von Wolzogen- Sixth Grade
Mrs. Von Wolzogen holds a B.A. Degree from Life Pacific College and a Masters of Education and Multiple Subjects Credential from Hope International University in Fullerton, California. She has been teaching for many years and really feels at home with middle school students. She emphasizes the importance of math and how " it affects every part of our lives" as she works with our Sixth grade homeroom students as well as Sixth- Eighth grade math students.
Michelle Spargur- Seventh Grade
Mrs. Spargur earned a B.A. degree in Journalism at California State University in Fullerton, as well as a California Teaching Credential in English. She is also a professioanl Language and Math tutor. She has experience teaching at Valencia High School and has ministered at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. She is the mother of three children that attend ICS. She teaches Seventh grade homeroom subjects as well as Sixth- Eighth Grade sciences.
Lynne Camp- Eighth Grade
Mrs. Camp received her B.A. in History from Chapman University. She currently is attending Hope International University completing her Master in Education Degree. Mrs Camp has been teaching Middle School at ICS for many years. She is the Language Arts teacher, the Student Government advisor and the Director of Student Involement. She really loves Junior High students. She teaches Eighth Grade homeroom as well as Sixth-Eighth Grade Language Arts.
Carol Hilton- Assistant Principal
Mrs. Hilton has a B.A. Degree in Art, Masters in Special Education, Multiple Subjects Credential and Learning Handicapped Credential from California State University in Fullerton, California. She has thirty two years of classroom experience. She is the director of the Special Education Program at Independence.
Ron Cushing- Principal
Mr. Cushing has a B.A. Degree in Humanities from Pacific Christian College. A Muliple Subjects Credential from California State University, Fullerton. A Master of Education degree from Hope International University, Fullerton, California. He is listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. He was named an Outstanding Young Man in America in 1982 by the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was awarded the first ever Medford Jones Servant Leader Award by Hope International University in 2006. He has been the Principal at I.C.S. for more than twenty-five years.
